Anyone here have Vonage or know someone who does?
Are the calls clear? Any problems? What do you like or not like about it?

Thanks!

The only problem with Vonage is that they are about two steps ahead of bankruptcy. They are in and out of court fighting over patent rights.. if they lose - you will have to use your cell phone to arrange for a new phone carrier.

Go to the home page and click on Press Room

I use Vonage, they are expensive in comparison to other companies like packet8 or Lingo. You need broadband connection,

If you are planning to use it as primary line, it is a better choice, if you talk a lot then choose $25 plan. with taxes it will $30 month.

If you are going for a second line, and your computer is always on and connected, then go with cheap companies like magicJack.

I use Voange $15 plan + magicJack. 90% of the time call quality is acceptable.

Oh if you use Vonage and have an emergency, good luck with trying to get in touch with 911 because they use some funky kind of system for 911 calls. The mister and i didn't really care for Vonage.

I have a neighbor who tried to have it installed. he had to call me over as his computer stopped functioning at all. I found that it had been completely disconnected.
he told me the guy from vonage had been there trying to install the phone for him.
Rather than go into details, what happened was the installer was unable to get the phone to work for him. he also managed to unhook or unplug everything near where the phone was supposed to be placed.
He also managed to actually cut the burglar alarm system wires knocking that out!
I forget the reason now but I told my friend that the vonage system was completely incompatible with his house and computer systems.
Eventually vonage took back the phone and refunded him.
Nothing was offered to repair the extensive damage to his alarm system, computer and printer!
Lucky for my neighbor that I repair and maintain computers. took most of a saturday to get him up and running and rewire his alarm system and his telephones.
Oh, I remember that he wanted a dedicated line for his printer. That created the havoc!

I have helped a couple of my friends to switch to Vonage and VOIP solutions, never had any issues with any of them except when your bandwidth is low the call quality goes down.

For example if you try to send 50mb file attachment while on call, then the call quality will be bad during that period.
