I was in Walmart's fabric section today and overheard an employee and customer discussing the fabric sections being discontinued in Walmarts and couldn't quite believe it.
While I understand this is not a crisis, there is virtually no where else to go to these days for fabric or buttons or "notions" as they used to be called. While I am not a seamstress by any stretch, the need does come up: Halloween costume needs, school plays, fundraiser craft projects. It is the last place you can go buy a yard of ribbon as all the craft stores now make you buy it by the roll.
They are going to replace them with "Celebration Centers", translation : party goods. Really? In this economy are people having more parties or are they looking for replacement buttons for that winter coat that has to get them through another winter???
Just seems like a decision that was not fully thought through....
