Western Digital 40GB Hard Drive for $18 Picked After Pricematch + Rebate

If you need a Western Digital 40gb hard drive, this is the deal for you. The deal may vary depending on your manager.

1. Click here to go to Circuit City.
2. Search and Add WD400BBRTL ( Hard Drive : $79.99 )
3. Choose to pickup in-stores.
4. Print out Bestbuy's Price : $59.99
5. Go pickup your hard drive.
6. Go make a copy of your receipt.
7. Come back to Circuit City and show Circuit City that Bestbuy has the unit for $59.99 and ask for a pricematch ( Pricematch : -$22.00 )
6. Rebate1 Price : -$30.00 ( Send original UPC )
7. Rebate2 Price: - $10.00 ( Send copy of UPC )
Note : Use your original receipt for the rebates.

Just so people know, the last time I called several Circuit Cities and their rebate center about rebates and pricematches, I was told that rebates would be rejected if you do any pricematch either BEFORE or AFTER you buy the item. Based on the local stores which have consistent policies (they are as stubborn as can be when it comes to pricematching), I thought there would be no chance ever getting a rebate after a pricematch.

However, the lady at the rebate center told me that after the rebate is rejected, you can call the rebate center up, re-submit everything and eventually get your rebate. Apparently any pricematch is coded in such a way that it will cause the rebate center to reject the rebate because the item shows up as returned (even though it wasn't). The rebate center lady said she thought this was dumb, but that's the way it was. She said she would help if there were problems, but could I count on her being there in the future?

After all this I decided that Circuit City purposefully makes things so difficult that I will never trust them for the rebates after a pricematch. At least Best Buy makes it clear up-front. If your rebate terms don't say no pricematches, then you will get your rebate, but not so at Circuit City. I expect anyone who yells enough after their rebates are rejected will eventually get them because the fine print doesn't say anything against it and you will probably find a nice person at the rebate center eventually, but is it worth the headache for $30? I decided it wasn't.

I'm just relaying what I found out. In my opinion, a pricematch + rebate at Circuit City is iffy at best and a big potential headache.

Circuit City I would not trust either. A 12 ft. s-video cable that was $5.49 at Fryes
was $17.00 at Circuit City. And they were identical items made by same company.
Moral of story... beware of Circuit City.

Thanks Yowza for the valuable information.

welcome to circuit city, where circuit is ripping you off.

hard drive

i wouldn't trust them either.last week a keyboard they'd for 7.99 was for 2.49 at the office max. but cc won't give it to me 2.49 for the reason that officemax was out of stock. They need someone to tell those dumbsters if officemax had it in stock why would someone go to cc.

"They need someone to tell those dumbsters if officemax had it in stock why would someone go to cc."

I find that to be the big flaw with pricematching... It's just cooperate america trying to squeeze out every penny they can.. That fact is hugely stupid in certain areas where there is a CC, CompUSA, BestBuy & Fry's all withing 2 blocks of each other.. Of course if one is OOS, you're gonna go where it is instock.. Gimme a break... The company should be happy your buying it from them.. Period! What ever happend to "The customer is always right".. <sigh>

As for rebates.. I find BestBuy to probably be the best with them out of places I sent them in... Fry's isn't too good taking almost 4 months to send a HD rebate..

I'd thoroughly enjoy this deal for a clients build but I'm with everyone else here in "No Thanks CC"
