This does not support 1080p; it supports 1080i but is scaled. The resolution is 1366 x 768 (1080i/p is 1920 x 1080). So really it only can accurately display 720p. 1080p is more than double the number of pixels of 720p (125% more). Personally I think it's worth the extra money to have native 1080p resolution on an LCD. While not too many cable channels are 1080p, blu-ray/PS3 is 1080p.
