Where you won't be able to shop in 2009

So many many businesses are closing, both large chains, and, family owned. Sad to see local stores that have a touch of small town Americana go down the tubes. While I, like most folks, enjoy a good sale, I can't bring myself to shop at stores of people that I have known for forty plus years that are closing. Really heart breaking all across the States. Hope we get that economic upswing, and, soon.

 WOW! It was pretty well publicized that a lot of chains were banking (pun intended) on this past season to boost them out of the negative, but I'm also alarmed at how very many have been affected! I think this expains why there were a reported 62 applicants received by the owner of a local deli to fill one cashier position and why I have been unable to find a job for the last 4 months...

No Cheesecake Factory!! Where I live, there's like one Cheesecake Factory every 20 miles. So now, if they close stores, it will be every 50 miles!! I don't care too much about Starbucks.

Sorry Druvens...my bad! Thanks Big Daddy for merging..and not poofing me. :)

...I didn't see the Cheesecake place either, but dang! an avacado eggroll sounds soooooo good!

This is the reference to the Cheesecake Factory in the article being refered to in this thread I believe:

"What plagues Starbucks will also affect other upscale goody chains like Mrs. Fields' Cookies, and causal dining outlets like Applebee's and Cheesecake Factory (nasdaq: CAKE - news - people ). Any of the neighborhood outlets for those restaurant chains could be a casualty this year. For too many customers now, it's McDonald's (nyse: MCD - news - people ) or bust."

You know it's really sad. I will miss a lot of these places..or I think I will. But when I go over my spening for the last 2 years I notice there's a dramatic change in where I shop and especially where I dine. Going out for dinner used to be TGI fridays or something simular every weekend, sometimes 2-3 times a week. Then it sort of got downgraded to Eat N Park type places. And now...it's Taco Bell or $5 foot longs from Subway. Actually our favorite Sunday after church place is now Sam's club. For less that $2.00 you get 2 big pieces of pizza and a drink.
