I don't get the Star ratings. I posted something yesterday and someone posted after me the exact same post yet they got 3 stars and I got one and both post remained (If I post a duplicate mine is removed or linked to OP yet in this case it did not happen). Why is this is it because they have been here longer? I also went back thru some posts and I noticed this star thing is different for different posters. Please someone let my know how this works as I am trying to post correctly and by the rules but I don't know what the rules are for this. Thank You

Not quite sure if I know what you mean, but I'll give it a shot.

The star ratings on the threads are the ratings the user (member) gives the OP/ or thread starter. If members think it's a great deal or thread, they give higher star ratings.

As for duplicate posts, they usually are deleted or combined. Perhaps the one you mentioned yesterday (yours being first) has yet to be merged (or noticed) by a mod. :noidea:

As for who has been here longer, etc.....it doesn't matter, we are all equal here (except for mods)....although some are more equal than others....right Dan?

Hope it helps.

I have one more Question. If I wanted to give someone a star rating how do you do it. I have looked don't see where this is done. Thanks for the help!

At the top of the original post with blue background with white lettering is RATE THREAD with an arrow for the drop box,

the drop down options are as follows:

Rate This Thread
Excellent - 5 stars
Good - 4 stars
Average - 3 stars
Bad - 2 stars
Terrible - 1 star

select the one you want and click on VOTE NOW

The star rating is for the Opening post/thread topic/deal, not the "person".

You can also 'thank' the thread starter (except in Off Topic). (Bottom right hand corner of opening post)

Under the member's name/avatar there is a "thumbs up" smilie, you can click on that and add to the person 'reputation' (they accumulate 'points') if you want to show agreement or post a personal comment (they are only viewable to that member, not everyone). *This is not limited to only the OP, you can 'rep' anyone in any post.

Feel free to 'rep' me any chance you can.....

If you wanted to rate a thread and give a star......

On the blue header just above the first/opening post, there is an option. Just click on "rate thread" and a box with stars will fall down.
View First Unread ................ Thread Tools ..... Search this Thread ......... Rate Thread ......... Display Modes

Yeah I found the star rating. I read both posts above and was looking all over and could't find it or the thumb for the life of me and then I logged in again (must have timed out) and there it was (I can't believe I couldn't find this before) Thanks Precocious and Madonna for helping me!

people do the same thing to me. it's the person who is always giving a one star to all the posts they don't like. so its not your post its the nerd doing the one star thing.

 It doesn't make sense that a re-post on your thread was rated higher than yours, but that happens around here.

:ohwell:There are people that go around and just give 1's to other people :mmph:

Don't ever take this personally or you will go :loco:

:blushing: You can rate your own thread if you want to change that rating
