Great deal for those cheapo computers that you don't plan on using for games or any type of intensive work. For the computer that you care about, get Vista which is coming out on January 31 :)

I say this because the next gen games and graphics cards need vista to fully function.

For previous versions of Windows, if you bought on old version within some time frame of the new one's release, they upgraded you for free.
Has anyone heard of a similar deal this time around?

This is a great deal for a virtual machine under VMWARE !!!

You can buy this and get vista for and added $10, or free in some cases. But from what I've heard even the release of vista wasn't ready for most users. You'll more the likely have poor driver support and some of your older programs are likely to not work.

I was curious as to what you would get for this, so I went through the MS website. If you buy this upgrade you will receive Windows Vista Home Basic English Upgrade for free + shipping.

I wonder how much it is to upgrade the "Home Basic Upgrade" to Home Premium or Ultimate? (Supposedly users will be able to upgrade their win version anytime over the web since the dvd contains all versions on it)

Thanks Spoofee....

This really is a good deal.....got the XP and the CD AM/FM player
for just $29.99 after MIR and Upgrade to Vista for $9.99.

To get the CD player just add coupon # 14075334 to your order.

these are the prices that were leaked

Full Version
•Vista Ultimate: $399
•Vista Business: $299
•Vista Home Premium: $239
•Vista Home Basic: $199

Upgrade
•Vista Ultimate: $259
•Vista Business: $199
•Vista Home Premium: $159
•Vista Home Basic: $99

But like I said from what I hear the RTM {released to manuf} version wasn't all that great. With poor driver support for older products but by the time its set for full release they might have some of the issues fixed
