As you have likely noticed, our web site has been down for the past day.
Starting around 4:30AM PDT Saturday morning 11/ 24, one or more disks failed on our database server. We immediately called in our engineering team from Thanksgiving holiday, and they began working on the problem.
Dell Computer support rushed in replacement equipment, but it did not arrive until about 3PM. After that, it took several hours to reconfigure the new disks, but this alone did not solve the problem. We began two activities in parallel . assembling a completely new replacement server, and restoring our database from the latest backup. This process takes many hours, and as of this time (8:00AM Sunday morning, 11/25) it is not yet complete. Assuming it is successful, we expect to be back up and running today.
With our server down, we are unable to send an email to our members, since their information is located on that computer. Once we have restored service, and our engineering team gets some rest, we will communicate with everyone and make appropriate amends with our members. If you are in personal contact with any of them, may I ask that you please pass along this information.
We realize that this is a significant inconvenience, as you have not been able to play since Friday night. Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to get our web site back up and running, and will take appropriate action to ensure that this does not happen again and that all of our cherished members are taken care of.
