I got two postcards from TiVo yesterday. They read...
Dear Consumer:
Thank you for participating in this promotion.
Unfortunately we could not honor your request
due to the following reason(s):
TiVo DVR - Missing Copy or Original UPC
Those postcards were supposed to be checks for $100 each! Needless to say, I got myself a little worked up about it. I knew I had submitted the original UPCs. I had copies of everything. I put it all together in my bag for work and started thinking through what I was going to say when I called them (if I could get through to anyone). I can't say I lost any sleep over it last night, but it was on my mind up until bed time.
This morning when I got to work, I gathered my ammunition and made the call. The automated system was a bit annoying, but I eventually got through to a live operator. It only took about 3 minutes. She looked up my rebates and asked the obvious question; did I submit the original or a copy of the UPCs? I of course answered, "Yes." To my astonishment, she simply replied, "Ok, I have updated your record. You will receive your checks based on the terms of the rebate. They will be in the form of postcards. Can I help you with anything else?"
:hmm:
Does this seem odd to anyone else? Why did she take my word for it? Is it because she knows the system automatically rejects rebates at random in an attempt to keep the lazy man's money? (pure speculation) Whatever the case, I should receive my $200 worth of rebate checks in 6-8 more weeks, or something along those lines, so I can't complain too much.
