Xbox 360 Advert Banned for Using Higher Resolution PS3 Footage
"The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has discovered that Square Enix – the developers of popular sci-fi video game Final Fantasy XIII – had misled gamers by not using pictures from the Xbox 360 but from its arch-rival, the Sony PlayStation 3.
All it took was an eagle-eyed gamer who noticed that the advert was using higher resolution images from the PlayStation 3 for the ASA to act. The Advertising Standards Authority tested the game on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 using an identical set-up and agreed that the screen quality on the PS3 was ‘sharper’ than images from the Xbox and have banned the ad from being shown again."
