Bed Bugs

I had a friend whose children had bites showing up on their arms and legs. He said that when he compared it to pictures online, he thought it might be bed bugs.

I went over to his house to help him look, and sure enough, we found them under the box springs of both of his kids' beds. Rather than risk it, we just threw both beds out, and he called someone to come spray.

I didn't realize anyone had bed bug problems, but evidently this is quite the issue right now. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening again? Do you think his kid brought it home from school?

Periodically they have been closing some major stores here in NYC for infestations. I think Juicy Couture's flagship NYC was closed last week for a few days.

BTW they can be picked up anywhere.....movie theaters, stores, traveling (hotels), etc. It doesn't mean you are dirty, just that you have a warm body to feast upon.

they like anything that is upholstered and they don't die why you spray insecticide. uke: Steam heat apparently kills them. they have trained beagles sniffing them out in offices in NYC.
