US National Average for gas has hit $5/gallon and can be $7 in certain parts of the country. Just a year ago, it was $3/gallon! Here are all the ways to save on gas.

National Average on Gas Prices

  • Inflate your tires - 3% Improvement
Properly inflate your tires to factory recommendations. Some vehicles can lose up to 3% of their total gas mileage because of low tire pressure. Go to Amazon and buy a cheap tire inflator. Open your driver's side door and you will see a label stating what your tire's PSI should be.

  • Replace your car air filter
Dirty air filters can disrupt performance and lower gas mileage overall. Find the air filter for your car and replace it. There's a youtube video for how to do it for almost any car.

  • Clean out your car and unload - save 1% per 100lbs
An extra 100 pounds in your vehicle could reduce your MPG by about 1%! Unload any heavy garbage that has been sitting in your car!

  • Find the best price near you
A quick search on Gasbuddy or Geico Gas Prices can save you a lot of money. Enter your zip code to see which gasoline stations offer the lowest price.

  • Plan and combine your trips
Drive less and you'll use less gas, therefore saving money on gas. Need to pick up someone? Maybe pickup lunch for tomorrow and groceries for the weekend.

  • Work more from home
If you have the luxury, have a talk with your boss that the gas prices are eating into your savings and work much as you can from home.

  • Tune up your car
If you have the check engine light, now would be a good time to make sure everything is working like it's supposed to. Replace spark plugs, ignition wires, fix that check engine light, and whatever other small things can be repaired. Have your tires aligned.

  • Check your credit card returns - some offer 5% return on gas
Some credit cards offering 2-5% returns on Gas purchases.

  • Buy discounted gift cards for gas stations
CardBear sells gift cards for Shell, Conoco Philips, 76, and more gas stations gift cards at a discount. Buy them when you spot them!

  • Try to drive less altogether
Can you take public transportation? Ride a bike? Carpool to work? All of this is healthy for your physical and social life anyways.

If you use the upside card you pay credit card price right. It would be better to find the cheapest gas and pay cash I think
